Job Purpose

As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will promote independence, social inclusion, and safe care for adults with physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and learning disabilities. You will undertake complex occupational therapy assessments, recommend equipment and adaptations, and support individuals to remain living independently within their own homes for as long as possible.

Key Duties/Accountabilities

  • Carry out Occupational Therapy assessments, interventions, and evaluations for adults with complex needs.
  • Assess requirements for aids, equipment, and minor and major adaptations.
  • Undertake manual handling assessments and provide recommendations.
  • Monitor and review the effectiveness of equipment, adaptations, and service provision.
  • Promote independence and reduce reliance on care services.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team environment alongside social workers, healthcare professionals, and partner agencies.
  • Liaise with NHS colleagues, GPs, voluntary organisations, and other stakeholders.
  • Support and supervise junior staff, Occupational Therapy Assistants, and students where required.
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure all activity is recorded on relevant systems.
  • Prepare reports, assessments, and recommendations.
  • Attend and contribute to supervision sessions and team meetings.
  • Support service development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and council policies and procedures.

Essential Experience Required

  • Experience working as an Occupational Therapist within Adult Social Care.
  • Experience completing complex Occupational Therapy assessments.
  • Experience assessing for equipment, aids, and major and minor adaptations.
  • Experience undertaking manual handling assessments.
  • Experience working with adults with physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and learning disabilities.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience maintaining accurate case records and assessment documentation.
  • Experience supervising or supporting junior staff and students.
  • Strong assessment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Essential Qualifications Required

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with Social Care Wales.
  • Enhanced DBS Check.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Relevant post-qualification Occupational Therapy experience within Adult Services.

Additional Information to Note

  • Working hours: 37 hours per week.
  • Hybrid working arrangement available.
  • Expected working pattern: Approximately 2 office days and 3 days working from home.
  • Start Date: 1st October 2026.
  • End Date: 17th March 2027.
  • Enhanced DBS required.
  • Interview Date: 30th September 2026 (Online).
  • We work on bi-weekly payment schedule.
