As a Street Markets Officer, you can make your own powerful contribution to people across Westminster. Based at the heart of two of the most vibrant markets in Westminster, you'll work closely with traders and the community to ensure they remain safe and welcoming. Your day‑to‑day will be varied and dynamic, including everything from managing the set‑up and takedown of stalls, to assessing health and safety standards and conducting enforcement action where necessary. Where issues are identified, you'll deal with them swiftly and proactively, using your problem‑solving and negotiation skills to ensure effective resolutions. A visible presence in the community, you'll conduct routine walk‑throughs of the markets, collecting footfall data and assisting market traders with their needs. In this way you will build strong relationships, helping to foster a collaborative, community‑first environment.

An established professional with proven experience working with markets, retail environments, public spaces or events—ideally within a local government or community‑focused setting—you will be capable of building effective working relationships with a wide range of people. In a previous role you have monitored and enforced compliance standards, demonstrating the ability to manage disputes calmly and professionally to ensure effective resolutions. A true team player, you will take a meticulous approach to safety checks, record keeping and compliance with market regulations. You will be comfortable working on your feet and in all weather conditions, taking a proactive, resourceful and solutions‑focused approach to everything you do.
