As a Learning Support Practitioner, you can make a powerful contribution. You'll work with young learners, helping them to overcome challenges, build confidence, and achieve their potential. Whether it's in one-to-one support or small group work, you'll make a visible, meaningful impact.

You’ll provide on‑course support to learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities in the classroom, online and throughout the service. Numeracy and literacy support will be key. You could also participate in notetaking, device support, and special arrangements for examinations.

We’d like you to encourage all to realise the importance of good punctuality and attendance. Some of our students have challenging behaviour, and you’ll work with them on how to manage this.

At the beginning and end of the day you’ll supervise transport, dealing with alterations and cancellations when they occur. You’ll support learners during break and lunchtime; this may include matters of personal hygiene. When required, you’ll assist teaching staff on trips and residentials.

You’ll liaise with other teaching staff and Learning Support Practitioners to ensure good communication and that individual needs are tracked and progressed. Together you’ll share knowledge and experience to better the service provided. You’ll also contribute to the preparation and production of learning resources, displays, and equipment.

This is an hourly paid role, with various days and hours (Monday‑Friday) and covers term time only.

Qualifications & Experience

To be equal to the role, you’ll bring experience of working with young people or adults who have learning difficulties, disabilities or challenging behaviours. From this experience you have gained the ability to support and engage learners, helping them to complete coursework and reach individual targets.

Familiar with relevant government legislation (Children and Families Act 2014) and the Equality Act, you will be committed to equal opportunities. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are key to this role. You should also have good IT skills, backed by administrative experience, and a working knowledge of Word, Excel, and databases. You’ll need to be able to work flexible, varied hours and be willing to undertake personal hygiene duties.

To qualify, you’ll hold Level 2 Maths and English. You are aware of health and safety procedures or are willing to undertake training. It would be beneficial to have a qualification as a teaching assistant or in learning support.
