As a Housing Register Officer in our Housing Solutions and Homelessness service you will play a key role in preventing homelessness by managing applications to the Council's Housing Register and supporting those in need of safe, stable, and sustainable accommodation across Westminster.
Responsibilities
- Assess the eligibility of new applicants for the Housing Register.
- Liaise with healthcare professionals to coordinate medical assessments for applicants.
- Keep residents and relevant parties informed of developments and changes.
- Prepare decision notices and reports when required.
- Conduct periodic reviews of existing entries to maintain an accurate and up-to-date register.
- Continuously improve skills and knowledge to better serve the community.
Qualifications
- Good knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities and homelessness legislation.
- Familiarity with: Housing Act 1996 (Part VII), Domestic Abuse Act 2021, Localism Act 2011, Equalities Act 2010, Housing Allocation Scheme, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
- Experience working in a customer-focused environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with residents, colleagues and partner organisations.
- Organised, empathetic and open-minded with a passion for improving outcomes for people experiencing homelessness.
