As an Operations Assistant you can make a powerful contribution to Westminster's success. Key Responsibilities

  • Work across a range of areas, including Highways, Bridges and Structures, Arboricultural services and Climate Resilience.
  • Support teams, coordinate tasks, and collaborate with colleagues and partners to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues, partners and stakeholders to deliver a joined‑up and sustainable service.
  • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships, resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Support policy development, analysis, advice and stakeholder briefings, using information to build fact‑based decisions.
  • Spot improvement opportunities, identify and escalated risks, and respond to Freedom of Information requests and enquiries.
  • Maintain clear responses to customer needs aligned with Council objectives.
  • Work independently or as part of a team, staying calm under pressure and keeping wider team objectives in mind.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Understanding of working within a highways function and knowledge of relevant legislation such as the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, the Highways Act 1980 and Road Traffic legislation, or a demonstrated ability to learn and apply it.
  • Organised and practical mindset; excellent accuracy and sound technical judgement.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
