As Contract Officer for Highways, you will contract-manage service providers to ensure delivery is always to a high standard, directly contributing to the City Council’s Public Realm.
Responsibilities
- Contract manage service providers and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including major stakeholders and politicians.
- Plan and manage the annual Planned and Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule and reactive works, carrying out general maintenance.
- Ensure all outputs comply with relevant specifications, quality assurance, contractual requirements, Health and Safety requirements, and protect public and staff safety.
- Monitor contract performance, identify issues, take corrective action and refer back to contract terms.
- Validate and audit all payment applications, monitor rates, support compensation and efficiently process Public Realm payment schemes.
- Prepare projection documentation and contribute to continuous improvement through audits and reviews.
- Provide technical advice and apply knowledge accurately in project delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience managing and delivering a highways contract or related lighting and drainage contract.
- Proven track record of budget planning, performance monitoring and delivering projects on time and on budget in a public sector environment.
- Strong collaborative skills, comfortable working with colleagues, understanding customer needs and responding accordingly.
- Proactive risk management, recording and mitigating risks, supporting improvement opportunities.
- Experience contributing to policy, analysis, advice and briefings.
- Commitment to equality and diversity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to a good standard.
- Recognition of professional qualification or membership of a professional institute (or willingness to pursue one); relevant experience alone may be considered.
