As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying industry-specific new business opportunities with an annual spend of £0.15m+. Fostering relationships with potential clients and driving business growth. This role involves strategic planning, market analysis, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve business goals.
What you will be accountable for:
- Identifying and securing new business opportunities with annual spends of £150k+.
- Researching market trends, competitor activity, and potential growth areas.
- Developing and delivering business development strategies aligned with company goals.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with prospective and existing clients.
- Driving sales and revenue growth through targeted outreach, negotiation, and closing high-value deals.
- Conducting in-depth market and industry research.
- Representing the business at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Preparing and presenting compelling proposals and solutions to key decision-makers.
- Collaborating with Marketing, Sales, Product, and wider teams to support business growth.
- Providing regular reporting on pipeline progress, activity, and market insights to senior leadership.
- Managing business development projects from initiation through to completion.
What we are looking for:
- Proven experience winning and developing high-value new business (SME/B2B).
- Strong negotiation skills with experience securing logistics or service-led contracts.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to design and implement long-term growth strategies.
- Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder-management skills.
- Commercially astute, able to analyse financial information.
- Confident communicator with the ability to present to senior leaders and boards.
- Strong time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Experience using CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience within complex, service-led or operational environments.
- Demonstrated success in delivering revenue and margin growth.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a DBS check as part of the recruitment process. Conditional job offers are subject to a satisfactory DBS check.
