A well-established and growing construction and refurbishment contractor is seeking an experienced Buyer to support procurement activities across a diverse range of residential, commercial, healthcare, education, and refurbishment projects throughout London and the Home Counties. Key Responsibilities:
- Procuring materials, plant, and subcontract services across multiple live projects
- Obtaining competitive quotations and negotiating pricing, lead times, and supplier agreements
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
- Working closely with commercial, estimating, and site teams to ensure procurement schedules are met
- Monitoring supplier performance, market trends, and cost fluctuations
- Managing procurement processes in line with project budgets and programme requirements
- Resolving supply chain and delivery issues efficiently to minimise project disruption
- Maintaining accurate procurement records and supporting reporting requirements
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a Buyer or Procurement role within the construction sector
- Experience working for a main contractor or refurbishment contractor is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of construction materials and procurement processes
- Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills
- Strong organisational and communication abilities
- Commercially aware with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement systems
