My client has a reputation for being a quality specialist contractor who turns over close to £65 million. They specialise in high-quality external works and soft/hard landscaping projects, along with highways and civil engineering projects across the public and private sectors. Their agile and flexible approach has allowed them to adapt and deliver anything from small-scale development and improvements to multi-million-pound projects. Based in London, this contractor collaborates with some of the UK’s finest architects and developers. They have been trusted to produce several once-in-a-lifetime projects such as Battersea Power Station, the externals to Tate Modern, along the urban regeneration to Greenwich Market and Paddington Central.

Project values range from £3 million to £15 million, displaying the business has adaptability across the board with its forward-thinking and innovative approach towards projects. About the opportunity:

Due to successful company expansion, my client is recruiting permanently for a Sustainability and Environmental Manager. Reporting directly to the Head of SHEQ, you will become a key member of the SHEQ team, working closely with project teams and supply chain partners to provide high quality sustainability and environmental support.

In this position, you will be responsible for supporting the Head of SHEQ in the development and embedment of sustainability, social impact and carbon reduction strategies; reviewing and maintaining the environmental management system; providing high levels of sustainability and environmental support and advice and developing leading performance metrics focusing on carbon reduction and social impacts to name just a few duties.

About the requirements:

In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must have experience of working in the UK construction industry. You will be degree qualified in sustainability and environment, hold an understanding of green building accreditations (e.g. BREEAM), a thorough understanding of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and be working towards chartered status.
