The Opportunity Our client is an established and highly respected main contractor with over 40 years of experience delivering construction projects across the South East. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join their pre-construction team. The business delivers a diverse range of projects across commercial, education, healthcare, residential, heritage, leisure and retail sectors, with experience across Design & Build, Traditional, Fit Out, Demolition and Special Works. The Role As Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive tenders from initial enquiry through to contract award. Key responsibilities will include: Reviewing tender documentation, drawings and specifications. Preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions. Producing detailed take-offs and cost breakdowns. Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations. Identifying commercial risks and opportunities. Working closely with the pre-construction and delivery teams. Assisting with value engineering and alternative solutions. Attending tender meetings and client presentations where required. Building strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and clients. Supporting the successful handover of secured projects. About You The successful candidate will have: Previous experience working as an Estimator within main contracting. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and costs. Experience pricing projects from £20k upwards. Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness. The ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. A proactive approach and the ability to work to deadlines. Experience across refurbishment, fit-out, new build or similar construction projects.
