An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and growing retail fit-out specialist based in Highbury. Our client is looking for an ambitious and commercially-minded QS to work on high-quality retail projects across London and the South East, reporting directly to the Managing Director and Commercial Director. This is an excellent role for a driven Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within a supportive and dynamic environment, working on end-to-end retail and commercial fit-out schemes from initial tender through to final account.

The Role Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Preparing cost estimates and tender submissions for retail and commercial fit-out projects
- Managing post-contract duties including valuations, variations, and applications for payment
- Procuring subcontractors and suppliers, negotiating rates and terms
- Monitoring project costs and preparing monthly cost reports and forecasts
- Liaising with clients, contractors, and design teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Assisting with the preparation of final accounts and settlement of claims
- Supporting the commercial team with cash flow management and cost control measures
- Ensuring compliance with contract conditions and company procedures
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of commercial processes and systems
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or related construction discipline
- 4–5 years' post-graduate experience in a Quantity Surveying role
- Experience working on fit-out projects (retail fit-out highly desirable, but broader commercial fit-out experience will be considered)
- Strong estimating and tendering experience
- Good understanding of post-contract quantity surveying duties including valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships with clients and supply chain partners
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with standard QS software packages
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working on retail or hospitality fit-out schemes
- Familiarity with JCT contracts (Minor Works, Intermediate, or Design & Build)
- Working towards MRICS or APC qualification
- Knowledge of procurement strategies and supply chain management
- Experience using estimating or cost management software such as CostX or Bluebeam
