About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established multidisciplinary design and engineering consultancy specialising in highly regulated environments including pharmaceuticals, life sciences, laboratories, healthcare facilities, cleanrooms, research facilities and advanced manufacturing environments. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Architect to join their expanding design team.
As a Senior Architect, you will play a key role in the development and delivery of technically complex projects from feasibility and concept stages through to detailed design and construction support. Working closely with clients, project teams and other design disciplines, you will provide technical leadership whilst contributing to business development and project delivery activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop architectural concepts, feasibility studies and preliminary design solutions
- Lead architectural input across multidisciplinary projects
- Attend client meetings and contribute to project proposals
- Develop project briefs and technical design strategies
- Produce and review architectural drawings, schedules and specifications
- Coordinate architectural design with structural, mechanical, electrical and process disciplines
- Support procurement and construction phases through technical input and site inspections
- Liaise with statutory authorities and regulatory bodies
Design Coordination
- Lead and facilitate multidisciplinary design coordination workshops
- Identify and resolve design clashes and technical challenges
- Drive collaborative design development across project teams
- Ensure projects meet programme, quality and budget requirements
- Promote best practice design standards throughout the business
Technical Leadership
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior architectural team members
- Promote quality assurance and technical excellence
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and design best practice
- Support internal training and technical development programmes
- Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, CDM requirements and industry standards
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Architect with relevant industry experience
- Strong experience delivering complex technical projects
- Experience within pharmaceuticals, laboratories, life sciences, healthcare or other highly regulated environments is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of Building Regulations and construction methodologies
- Excellent design coordination and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Commercial awareness and understanding of project budgets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
