A well‑established principal contractor specialising in fit‑out, refurbishment and bespoke joinery is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with estimating experience to join its growing commercial team. With a family‑run heritage dating back to 1977, the business has built a strong reputation for delivering high‑quality commercial interiors and refurbishment projects across London and the wider UK. Operating with an in‑house bespoke joinery manufacturing facility, the company delivers a wide range of projects across workplace, retail and commercial sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional who enjoys both pre‑construction estimating and live project commercial management within a fast‑paced fit‑out environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role across both estimating and quantity surveying functions, supporting projects from tender stage through to final account. You will work closely with directors, project teams, subcontractors and clients to ensure projects are commercially successful and delivered to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for fit‑out and refurbishment projects
- Analyse drawings, specifications and project requirements to produce accurate pricing
- Manage project costs from pre‑construction through to final account
- Prepare valuations, variations, cost reports and forecasts
- Procure subcontractors and manage subcontract packages
- Negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors
- Monitor project budgets and identify commercial risks and opportunities
- Support bid submissions and value engineering exercises
- Work collaboratively with operational teams to maximise project profitability
- Assist with contractual administration and client reporting
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within fit‑out, refurbishment or interiors
- Estimating experience within a construction or principal contractor environment
- Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
- Experience managing multiple projects and tender opportunities simultaneously
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- A proactive and organised approach with strong attention to detail
- The ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
- Experience with bespoke joinery or high‑end interior projects would be advantageous
