About the Company
Our client is a leading specialist RC Frame and Groundworks contractor delivering major construction and civil engineering projects throughout London and the South East.
The business undertakes reinforced concrete frames, groundworks, basements, drainage, enabling works and complex structural packages.
Their projects range from £10 million to £50 million across the residential, data centre, commercial, student accommodation and mixed-use sectors.
With a strong order book, repeat business and several new projects due to commence, they are looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager to join their senior operational team, the ideal candidate will have previous experience with data centres.
About the Role
This is a senior operational position with responsibility for overseeing multiple RC Frame and Groundworks projects across London and the South East.
As the Contracts Manager, you will manage the performance of each project from pre-construction through to completion.
You will work closely with Project Managers, Commercial Managers and Company Directors to ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably, on programme and to the required quality standards.
Your responsibilities will include
- Overseeing multiple RC Frame, Groundworks and Civil Engineering projects
- Leading and supporting Project Managers and site-based management teams
- Reviewing construction programmes, project progress and operational performance
- Ensuring labour, plant, materials and subcontractor resources are effectively managed
- Monitoring health and safety, quality, programme and commercial performance
- Identifying potential project risks and implementing corrective measures
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and main contractors
- Attending client, progress and internal operational meetings
- Supporting pre-construction planning and the mobilisation of new projects
- Working with the commercial team to protect project margins and manage contractual issues
- Reporting project performance directly to the Company Directors
- About the Requirements
- Previous experience working for an RC Frame, Groundworks or Civil Engineering contractor
- Proven experience working as a Contracts Manager or in a similar senior operational position
- Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete frames, groundworks, basements and structural concrete packages
- Experience overseeing multiple construction projects simultaneously
- Previous responsibility for Project Managers and site management teams
- Strong understanding of construction programmes, project delivery and operational performance
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of project costs
- Excellent leadership, organisational and client-facing skills
- SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications
- Full UK driving licence
- Experienced Senior Project Managers looking to progress into a Contracts Manager position will also be considered
