Our client is a leading RC frame, groundwork and civil engineering subcontractor delivering complex projects across the residential, commercial and infrastructure sectors throughout London and the wider U.K. With an annual turnover currently circa £150m and over £120m of secured work already confirmed for next year, the business continues to strengthen its reputation as one of the capital’s most respected specialist contractors. The company has built an excellent reputation for delivering technically challenging projects for a number of leading main contractors and developers across London and the South East.
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured projects, our client is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join their senior leadership team based in North West London. This is a key strategic appointment within the business and offers the opportunity to play a major role in the company’s continued expansion and long-term development. The successful candidate will work closely alongside the Managing Directors and senior operational teams, providing commercial and financial leadership across all areas of the business.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing the company finance function
- Providing strategic financial direction to the board
- Managing cashflow, forecasting and financial reporting across multiple live projects
- Overseeing budgeting, financial controls and risk management procedures
- Supporting commercial decision-making and business planning
- Liaising with banks, auditors, insurers and external advisors
- Driving improvements to systems, reporting processes and operational efficiencies
- Managing and mentoring finance staff within the business
- Supporting the business through continued growth and future expansion plans
About the Requirements:
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified preferred
- Proven experience operating as a Chief Financial Officer or Finance Director within a construction, RC frame, groundwork, civil engineering or subcontracting environment
- Previous experience working within businesses turning over £100m+
- Strong understanding of construction-specific finance including CVRs, WIP reporting, subcontractor payments, CIS, applications, retentions and project cashflow forecasting
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to support operational and strategic decision-making
- Experience producing board-level financial reporting and managing stakeholder relationships
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience leading and developing finance teams within a fast-paced construction environment
