Account Director / Senior Account Director — Financial and professional services sector.

Location: Edinburgh, London or Manchester.

Practice: Corporate Communications - Financial & Professional Services.

The Role:

Citypress is looking for an experienced Account Director to lead strategic communications programmes for clients in the financial services and professional services sectors. This role requires strong corporate communications expertise and experience working with B2B and investor audiences. You will act as a senior client lead, shaping strategy, providing exceptional consultancy, overseeing delivery excellence and driving growth across a portfolio of accounts.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with financial services and/or professional services clients, with the deep understanding of both sectors needed to provide exceptional consultancy.
  • Demonstrable corporate communications experience.
  • Experience advising on investor relations communications.
  • Strong relationships in national, business and finance trade media.
  • Exposure to origination and new business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the day-to-day senior client lead, providing trusted counsel and leading client relationships.
  • Develop a deep understanding of client organisations, markets and challenges to inform programme strategy.
  • Lead client meetings and reviews, anticipating issues and resolving challenges proactively.
  • Shape and oversee the delivery of communications programmes and campaigns, including setting clear KPIs.
  • Use insight and research to inform strategy, messaging and creative output.
  • Ensure consistently high-quality delivery, acting as the final stage of quality control.

Media, Content & Creativity:

  • Devise media engagement strategies and guide teams in building strong media relationships.
  • Lead creative idea generation and ensure programmes remain fresh and effective.
  • Provide senior counsel during issues and crisis situations when required.

Team & Commercial Management:

  • Manage and support client teams, providing clear direction, feedback and development.
  • Drive year-on-year growth across the client portfolio and support new business activity.
  • Manage budgets, resourcing and client finances to ensure programmes are accurately scoped and commercially sound.

Agency Contribution:

  • Contribute to talent development, mentoring and agency initiatives.
  • Support practice development and cross-agency collaboration.
  • Work in line with Citypress values and contribute positively to agency culture.
