A key member of the City Mission AOD Team, the AOD Practitioner – Hapori Ora will provide group facilitation and co‑facilitation, screening, AOD brief assessment and treatment planning for group clients, and brief intervention demonstrating an understanding of addiction, mental health problems and holistic wellness. This is a permanent, full‑time position, 40 hours per week. Monday‑Friday 8am‑5pm, with one late night per week and 3 hours on a Saturday once a month.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, social work, alcohol and drug or equivalent qualification and experience required to carry out Alcohol and Drug assessment and develop treatment plans.
- Experience working alongside and supporting people who are on a journey of growth and change.
- Experience working alongside people with high and complex needs.
- Experience working alongside people with mental health issues, substance misuse and trauma.
- The ability and desire to show cultural sensitivity, awareness and understanding of marginalisation and diversity.
- Initiative and passion for problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Full driver’s licence.
- Demonstrate a high level of conflict resolution and crisis management.
- Ability to work largely unsupervised, be self‑motivated and also work effectively as part of a co‑operative and mutually supportive team.
- Alignment with the ethics and values of Christchurch City Mission and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
