About the Role

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Full Stack Developer to lead the delivery of multiple software products across Auto.

Works, an innovative vehicle imaging technology company, and an exciting new AI-focused startup building an ecosystem of intelligent, data-driven products.

This is more than a traditional development role.

You will be responsible for designing, building and delivering modern software products from concept to production while leveraging the latest AI development tools to significantly accelerate software engineering, testing and deployment.

You will work closely with the Director of Digital Strategy to define technical direction, establish best practices and ensure every platform is secure, scalable, resilient and built to enterprise standards.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, embraces emerging AI technologies, and wants to shape the future of intelligent software products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Delivery
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of multiple web-based products across Auto. Works and affiliated ventures.
  • Design, develop and maintain modern full stack applications from concept through to production.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Deliver high-quality software within agreed timescales while maintaining engineering excellence.
  • Own the software development lifecycle including planning, architecture, development, testing, deployment and maintenance.
  • AI-Accelerated Software Engineering
  • Utilise AI development tools such as Chat GPT, Git Hub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code and other emerging technologies to accelerate software development.
  • Develop AI-assisted engineering workflows that improve productivity, code quality and testing.
  • Build automated development pipelines that reduce time-to-market while maintaining robust engineering standards.
  • Identify opportunities to incorporate AI capabilities into products where they deliver meaningful customer value.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend their adoption where appropriate.
  • Architecture & Technical Leadership
  • Define scalable software architecture across multiple products.
  • Establish coding standards, documentation standards and engineering best practices.
  • Make strategic technology decisions balancing speed, cost, maintainability and long-term scalability.
  • Mentor junior developers and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Cloud Infrastructure & Dev Ops
  • Design, build and manage cloud infrastructure.
  • Configure CI/CD pipelines for automated build, testing and deployment.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code where appropriate.
  • Monitor platform performance, uptime and reliability.
  • Optimise cloud costs without compromising scalability or performance.
  • Security & Compliance
  • Take ownership of platform security across all products.
  • Ensure applications are secure by design and follow modern security principles.
  • Implement authentication, authorisation and access management.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and relevant security standards.
  • Conduct regular security reviews, vulnerability assessments and remediation activities.
  • Support penetration testing and ongoing compliance initiatives.
  • Work alongside the Director of Digital Strategy to maintain governance and risk management across the product portfolio.
  • Collaboration
  • Work closely with product owners, designers and business stakeholders.
  • Participate in product strategy and roadmap planning.
  • Communicate technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative and high-performing engineering culture.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Technical
  • Extensive commercial experience as a Full Stack Developer.
  • Strong expertise in modern Java Script/Type Script.
  • Experience with React, Next. js or similar modern frontend frameworks.
  • Experience developing backend APIs using Node. js, . NET, Python or comparable technologies.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and microservice architecture.
  • Experience with SQL and No SQL databases.
  • Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure
  • Strong experience with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience deploying production-grade cloud infrastructure.
  • Containerisation using Docker.
  • Kubernetes experience desirable.
  • Experience with CI/CD platforms such as Git Hub Actions, Azure Dev Ops or Git Lab CI.
  • Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep or Cloud Formation.

  • Demonstrable experience using AI coding assistants to improve development efficiency.
  • Experience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into applications.
  • Understanding of prompt engineering and AI workflow design.
  • Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, AI agents or similar technologies is advantageous.
