The Impact Officer is based predominantly in a school (Monday to Thursday) and is the primary link between our partner schools and the City Year UK (CYUK) programme. The role is the enabler of programme delivery by supporting a team of volunteer mentors who support school activities.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate, manage and evaluate the programme.
- Assist volunteer mentors with a professional development plan to chart continuous learning and prepare them for employment.
- Engage, train and retain volunteer mentors.
- Provide pastoral oversight for the team and nurture relationships with children, parents, education professionals, funders, members of parliament and other stakeholders.
- Foster an inclusive and fair culture across regional teams, ensuring diverse perspectives are valued and the programme is accessible to volunteers from all backgrounds.
- Work in a school-based post Monday to Thursday and be office‑based most Fridays.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong supervision skills and ability to connect and communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Understanding of school leadership priorities and ability to represent CYUK in that context.
- Flexibility to meet volunteers’ and pupils’ developmental needs.
- Ability to cope with multiple demands, ask for support, prioritise work, meet tight deadlines, delegate and apply problem‑solving skills effectively.
- Good IT knowledge and skills (essential), including Google Apps (desirable) and Salesforce (desirable).
- Proactive attitude, initiative, professional manner and approach.
- Strong commitment to CYUK’s mission and values.
- Experience working in a school or with schools (advantageous).
