We are looking for a proven General Sales Manager to take responsibility for sales performance at one of our flagship dealerships in Exeter. This is a critical leadership role focused on driving volume, profit, and team performance within a fast-paced, premium brand environment.
This role will require maximising every revenue opportunity, maintaining pace and intensity across the sales operations, and building a team that consistently delivers against ambitious targets.
Based at Mercedes-Benz of Exeter, you will lead the full sales function, with accountability for commercial performance, stock management, margin control and team delivery across the site.

The Role – Sales Leadership & Commercial Delivery
As General Sales Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of the sales operation, ensuring that performance is consistently delivered across volume, margin and customer outcomes.
You will:
- Take responsibility for sales volume, profitability and departmental KPIs
- Drive a high-performance sales culture, setting pace, standards and expectations daily
- Maximise revenue through strong control of stock, pricing, F&I and conversion
- Lead, coach and develop people to improve individual and team output
- Use data and performance insight to identify gaps, act quickly and drive improvement
- Ensure full alignment with manufacturer standards while optimising commercial return
- Maintain strong operational discipline across processes, compliance and reporting
This role requires a leader who thrives on targets, performance management and delivering measurable results.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a commercially driven sales leader with a proven track record of delivering results in a volume or premium dealership environment.
You will bring:
- Strong experience in automotive sales leadership, ideally at General Sales Manager or senior Sales Manager level
- A consistent track record of delivering sales targets, margin performance and F&I penetration
- Ability to drive energy, accountability and performance standards across a team
- Strong commercial awareness, with a clear understanding of dealership economics and profit levers
- Confidence in managing stock profiles, pricing strategy and pipeline conversion
- Resilience, pace and the ability to perform in a target-driven, high-pressure environment
