The predicted salary is between 51753 - 53301 £ per year.

This position is based in the busy Student Health and Wellbeing Department which serves students from a variety of academic schools. The appointed counsellor will work closely with counselling colleagues and also colleagues in the wider team and university, to provide a professional, high-calibre and culturally competent specialist integrative student counselling service.

Responsibilities

  • The post-holder will conduct counselling assessments, including the assessment of risk.
  • They will be responsible for providing on-going counselling sessions, negotiating contract length within a short-term framework.
  • They will manage their caseload in accordance with service guidelines and to preserve a balance of appointment type.
  • They will manage student risk and complexity, liaising with internal and external support where needed.
  • They will be an active member of the counselling team and wider MDT, working on related projects as required.

Person Specification

The post-holder will be a qualified, accredited and experienced counsellor, able to use a number of modalities in an integrative way to support students presenting with a variety of needs. They will be experienced in working in a higher education setting, with short term client contracts and in a flexible way dependent upon the needs of the student and the service. They will have proven experience of working with at risk and complex clients, able to demonstrate high level judgement skills. Experience of working online and working as part of a MDT is essential as is experience of and commitment to working in an inclusive and culturally competent way, working with Global Majority, neurodiverse and vulnerable students.
