Requirements:

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and document a web-based Data Repository, including back-end services, APIs and front-end applications for uploading and downloading monitoring data.
  • Work with technologies including Python and/or JavaScript, FastAPI, SQL and time-series databases, Docker and GitHub.
  • Work with our research team and HS2 stakeholders to translate data requirements into technical solutions and define common data structures.
  • Ensure the system is reliable, secure and well documented, and deliver agreed project milestones.

This Research Software Engineer role is based in our Engineering Department and supports the National Tunnelling Data Hub in collaboration with HS2, contributing to a modern web-based repository for sensor and monitoring data across the HS2 programme. The position is full time, permanent subject to fixed-term funding, hybrid, and based at Northampton Square, London. The listed salary is 39,906, and the role is not eligible for sponsorship.
