Research & Innovation Services (RIS) provides a professional support service for research and innovation activities at City St George’s. We operate a business partnering model to work with and support our six academic Schools located across our Clerkenwell, Tooting and Moorgate campuses. RIS is comprised of seven teams, covering the areas of pre-award, post-award, research & innovation contracts, business engagement & knowledge exchange, intellectual property & commercialisation, entrepreneurship and clinical research support.

The Research Support Services Officer will support academic and research staff in developing and submitting research grant applications. The postholder will also manage the project set-up process, including agreeing budgets, reviewing awards (in liaison with the Research & Innovation Contracts team as needed), ensuring a comprehensive handover to Research & Innovation Finance, and facilitating the set-up of appropriate contract arrangements for research projects. The postholder will assist the Research Support Services Manager(s) in their support of the University and School research agendas.

The successful candidate will bring a well-developed understanding of best practice in supporting research funding applications to the role. They will have experience of working in a similar role in higher education and will be well versed in the research funding landscape in the UK and associated policy issues. They will have excellent communication skills and experience of communicating to a variety of audiences, together with excellent negotiation skills. They will be highly organised, with the ability to manage and prioritise a mixed portfolio of work.
