City St George’s, University of London is a leading international higher education institution committed to academic excellence, and focused on business, practice and the professions.

Following the merger of City and St George’s – both component parts of the University of London – in 2024, the combined institution now has over 27,000 students and is one ofthe higher education destinations for London students, with excellent research spanninghealth, business, science and technology, creative industries, law and policy.

William Jordan, the current University Secretary, will leave his post after a tenure of over a decade in August 2026 and the University is now seeking to appoint a successor to this pivotal role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring effective governance, legal and regulatory compliance, and oversight of the internal audit function.

In addition to providing expert advice to the University Council, they will support the efficient operation of the Council and play a key role in fostering collaboration and cohesion across the institution.

The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience of supporting boards and leading compliance functions at a senior level.

They will demonstrate professionalism, resilience, and the highest standards of personal integrity.

While maintaining a strong focus on legal and statutory requirements, they will also be adaptable and responsive to emerging challenges and opportunities.

Experience of, or a strong understanding of, the higher education sector is ideal.

Salary will be commensurate with the senior responsibilities of the role.
