The Strategic Planning and Performance (SPPU) directorate plays a critical role within the University to inform and facilitate the delivery of the Strategy and enable evidence-based decision‑making. SPPU operates centrally in the University, reporting directly into the University's Deputy President (Operations) and working closely with the University Senior Leadership team. The directorate’s activities include strategy formation and deployment, academic and financial planning, business intelligence, student management information, statutory assurance, performance, benchmarking, and league tables analysis.
The Senior Planning & Data Analyst role supports the monitoring and reporting of progress against our Access & Participation Plan (APP) and the delivery of related student management information. The role supports the provision of reports and management information relating to the University's performance against its APP commitments and targets. The role will help inform strategies and interventions to address barriers faced by students who are underrepresented in higher education, with a focus on access, continuation, completion, attainment and engagement.
Candidates should have a working knowledge of how Access and Participation plans are used for compliance and reputational purposes. The successful candidate will have a proactive approach, be highly numerate, be able to analyse complex datasets and communicate key insights effectively to a range of stakeholders. Knowledge of designing and creating data visualisations / dashboards and the ability to learn new data transformation and visualisation tools such as Tableau and Alteryx will be an important part of the role.
