Responsibilities

  • Facilitate access to collections for researchers, students and external users through reading room services, enquiry handling and research support.
  • Catalogue archival material to professional standards and develop online guides and collection development policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with academic and external partners to improve the visibility and impact of the collections.
  • Manage the digitalisation of archival collections and contribute metadata for digital access systems.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate environmental and storage conditions in accordance with professional standards.

Person Specification

  • The applicant will be educated to degree level or have equivalent workplace experience.
  • They will also have experience of cataloguing and managing archival materials, including mixed format collections to professional standards.
  • They will possess excellent communication and influencing skills, and this extends the ability to engage proactively with academic staff and researchers.
  • The postholder will place value on customer service and be highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • They will be committed to personal and team development.
