The City Law School has the largest single cohort for Bar training delivering the very highest quality legal education to over 400 students each year from the UK and around the world. We are based in Clerkenwell in a modern, architect-designed building with access to cutting edge technology and facilities. We are seeking to appoint full‑time Lecturers/Senior Lecturers, and/or part‑time Lecturers/Senior Lecturers who are able to offer a minimum of 3 days per week, to join our exceptional team on the Bar Vocational Studies course.

Qualified barristers with first‑hand experience of professional practice in England and Wales are required. Previous teaching experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided to successful candidates. The role attracts a competitive salary together with benefits which include a sector‑leading pension and opportunities for promotion and personal development.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver knowledge and skills, including advocacy, on the Civil and/or Criminal parts of the BVS course.
  • Teach on the BVS course, which mostly takes place between September and March, and marking between February and September.
  • Maintain active links with the professions subject to teaching commitments.
Qualifications:
  • Qualified barrister with practice experience in England and Wales.
  • Academic or professional experience relevant to the Bar Vocational Studies course.
  • Willingness to commit to at least 3 teaching days per week.

The City Law School encourages and supports BVS tutors to maintain active practice or part‑time judicial appointments, providing a stimulating and rewarding career alongside professional duties.
