City St. George’s University of London is seeking an outstanding clinician-educator to take on the role of Lecturer in Clinical and Communication Skills within the MBBS programme.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality teaching in clinical examination, procedural skills, bedside skills and clinical reasoning across the MBBS programme.
- Deliver teaching in communication skills, including consultation skills, difficult conversations and patient‑centred interviewing.
- Facilitate simulation‑based learning, small‑group and practical teaching sessions across MBBS5 and MBBS4.
- Support transition of students into placements and assistantships, and provide targeted support for those requiring skills remediation.
- Promote inclusive, respectful and psychologically safe learning environments for all students.
- Participate in Clinical Competency Assessments (CCAs) and other clinical and communication assessments, including station writing, marking, standard setting and examiner activity.
- Provide constructive developmental feedback to students and support remediation following assessment outcomes where appropriate.
- Support recruitment, induction, training, supervision and developmental feedback for peer tutors, simulated patients and sessional educators.
- Contribute to faculty development initiatives and to curriculum review, quality assurance and enhancement of the Clinical and Communication Skills curriculum.
- Undertake a designated educational role as assigned by the MBBS leadership team, and act as a personal tutor in line with School expectations.
Qualifications
- Experience of teaching medicine at undergraduate level.
- Experience of teaching clinical and communication skills in a university.
- Knowledge of the MBBS curriculum at City St. George’s and the assessment strategy.
- Ability to teach clinical examination and communication skills competently and confidently, in a variety of settings and ways.
