Background

The Broadcast and Media Services (BMS) team is seeking an enthusiastic Junior Learning Support Technology Officer to support students from the Journalism and Media, Culture and Creative Industries departments within the School of Communication and Creativity (SCC). Based within the University's media equipment store, you will be responsible for the issue, return, maintenance and administration of audio, video and multimedia equipment. The role focuses on supporting equipment loans, advising students on the use of portable media equipment, maintaining the kit room to a high standard, and working closely with colleagues in SCC, BMS and IT.

Responsibilities

You will prepare, maintain and issue audio, video and multimedia equipment to students and staff using the SiSo booking system. You will provide demonstrations, advice and basic technical support to students using specialist media equipment. You will help maintain equipment to a high standard, support loan and return processes, administer equipment bookings, and ensure the kit room remains organised, efficient and ready to support teaching and learning activities.

Person Specification

You will have a good understanding of audio, video and multimedia equipment, together with excellent customer service and communication skills. You will be confident supporting students, organised, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team. A keen interest in media production technology and willingness to learn are essential. Experience working within a media equipment environment, whether in Higher Education institution or the industry, is desirable but not essential.
