Background
The Finance Team has been restructured to create a more integrated, agile, and resilient function, with clearer roles, stronger accountability, and enhanced career development opportunities. The new team structure strengthens our ability to sustainably meet the evolving demands of the University, providing clearer professional disciplines, defined career pathways, and greater opportunities for progression.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Business Partnering team through project management, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
- Monitor income streams (including NHS funding), prepare accruals, prepayments and journals, and support Schools and the Finance Directorate.
- Produce project reports, dashboards and financial analysis, ensure accurate treatment of income and resolve queries, and assist with budgeting and forecasting cycles.
Person Specification
Degree educated (or equivalent experience) and ideally part-qualified, with a commitment to completing a professional accountancy qualification. You will have strong financial, organisational and analytical skills, with experience in budgets, financial processes and value for money principles. A proactive team player, you will manage competing priorities, work independently and use initiative to solve problems. Strong communication and relationship-building skills, a commitment to excellent customer service, governance and continuous improvement, alongside accountability and personal development, are essential.
