Role Overview

City St George’s is seeking an enthusiastic Clinician‑Educator to act as the MBBS Undergraduate Specialty Lead for Gastroenterology. The Lead will design, deliver and oversee teaching related to gastroenterology and nutrition within the MBBS programme, from Year 1 through to F‑Year, including clinical teaching content on the virtual learning environment (Canvas).

Responsibilities

  • Design, deliver and/or delegate and oversee clinical teaching related to the specialty across all years (1–F) of the curriculum
  • Act as a specialty‑specific academic and clinical teaching resource for the MBBS team, placement leads, Core Specialty Leads and clinical education leads on gastroenterology and nutrition teaching content and stage‑appropriate clinical learning outcomes
  • Be responsible for the quality of the specialty’s clinical teaching material on the VLE, updating it before each academic year with any in‑year amendments
  • Contribute to the development of clinical learning outcomes for the subspecialty, and ensure teaching meets these requirements
  • Review student feedback and evaluation, addressing concerns and offering constructive support to colleagues
  • Contribute to summative assessment, both directly and by encouraging and supporting other clinical colleagues
  • Maintain teaching skills and professional development as an educator, including relevant training in medical education and assessment
