Student Health & Wellbeing is made up of four services which provide specialist emotional and practical support to students at City St George's University. Our services provide practical support for students with disabilities, long‑term health conditions, specific learning differences, and mental health conditions, as well as emotional support for all students who may be experiencing difficulties with their wellbeing, including counselling.
We are experienced in supporting students from many different backgrounds and cultures with a wide range of personal, practical and academic concerns.
The post holder supports the leadership and development of the Student Mental Health Service,
providing highly specialist, evidence‑based support to students with moderate to severe mental
health difficulties. This includes complex case management, risk assessment and crisis response;
coordinated multi‑agency liaison with statutory and external services; and the development of inclusive, accessible support pathways across the University.
The role provides agreed line‑management and clinical/operational supervision to Mental Health Advisers, ensures continuity of support during staff absence, contributes to service improvement and data‑informed practice, and offers specialist consultation and training to academic and professional services colleagues.
We are seeking an experienced and professionally registered mental health practitioner to provide specialist support for students with complex and enduring mental health needs. The role involves risk assessment, crisis intervention, case coordination, and liaison with NHS and external services. You will lead on complex cases, supervise Mental Health Advisers (as required), and contribute to service development. Candidates will have significant experience in mental health practice, strong safeguarding and communication skills, and a commitment to equality, inclusion, student wellbeing, and evidence‑based support.
