City St George's University of London is seeking a surgical clinician‐educator to provide academic oversight of surgery placements in the F Year of the MBBS programme. The role ensures consistent, high-quality learning, alignment with assessment and GMC Outcomes for Graduates, and an equitable student experience across diverse clinical environments.

Responsibilities

  • Take academic responsibility for the surgery placement pages on the Virtual Learning Environment (Canvas), including annual review and in‐year updates.
  • Represent the specialty, respond to curriculum development queries, and ensure a cohesive approach across learning, assessment and feedback.
  • Act as a point of contact for placement leads at partner providers, and serve as an academic conduit supporting a welcoming, high‐quality learning environment.
  • Support the MBBS Quality Team with placement concerns, contribute to assessment, and engage with Canvas and curriculum‐management training.

Qualifications

  • Registered medical practitioner with current or very recent experience as a placement lead at a partner NHS provider.
  • Knowledge of surgery and the relevant specialist area, and familiarity with the City St George's MBBS curriculum.
  • Experience of undergraduate teaching within the relevant specialty.
  • Willingness to engage with the virtual learning environment and to build relationships with placement leads at partner providers.
  • Teamworking, networking, delegation, and project‐planning skills, and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Selection Process and Practical Information

  • Closing date for applications: Sunday 14th June 2026 at 11:55 pm.
  • Interviews are scheduled on or around 17th July 2026. The selection process will involve an interview and an assessment/exercise/presentation.
