Background

The Library AI Digital Transformation Manager will be responsible for evaluation, implementing and overseeing AI-powered tools and platforms in the library, developing policies around ethical AI use, supporting library colleagues to implement AI tools into the teaching, learning and research initiatives across the university. They will lead the development of AI-based research services at the library, actively engaging with university partners. Core activities will include raising awareness of appropriate AI tools and technologies and supporting Library staff in growing their knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and training to academics and researchers on the application of AI in various research contexts.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of AI-related policies, procedures, and workflows at the library and university levels.
  • Evaluate and pilot technologies that support Academic Services in delivering teaching and learning and improving the student experience.
  • Keep informed about the evolving landscape of AI ethics, policies and regulation, including copyright bias and transparency.

Person Specification

  • Knowledge and understanding of developments of AI in libraries.
  • Experience of the ethical, legal and social implications of AI, particularly in a research context.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills and ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the university.
  • Experience of contributing to planning and policy development and the ability to use feedback and data to improve services.
