This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Fellow to take part in the wide range of ongoing research activity primarily working on maternal vaccine trials run by the St George’s Vaccine Institute (SGVI). The Clinical Research Fellow will be responsible for the day‑to‑day organisation and running of the maternal vaccine trials and other infectious disease studies. This may include the preparation and submission of ethics and grant applications. The post holder will have a strong interest in infectious diseases, vaccinology or public health. The post offers a unique opportunity to work on innovative and ambitious research projects within the SGVI to further the postholder’s research experience in a range of areas. It is anticipated that during this 12‑month period the individual will, if they wish, and with support, work up funding applications to allow further, more detailed research focusing on any one of these areas, which can then lead to a higher degree.

Person Specification

  • Medically qualified with full GMC registration and at least Foundation Year Two level, ideally with experience working in clinical obstetrics medicine.
  • Interest in infectious diseases, vaccinology or public health.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of and ability to develop and deliver high‑quality research and to publish in peer‑reviewed journal.
