We are working with a well-established, family-run main contractor based in Oxfordshire, specialising in high-end residential new-build and refurbishment projects for private clients. Due to continued growth, the business is looking to recruit an experienced Commercial & Procurement Manager to take ownership of procurement and commercial activities across its project portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven individual who can hit the ground running, work autonomously and bring established relationships with suppliers, subcontractors and specialist manufacturers. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the directors, ensuring materials and services are sourced efficiently, costs are controlled and the high standards expected across the company's projects are maintained. Working directly with the company directors, you will have the opportunity to make a genuine impact on the business, helping improve procurement processes, strengthen supplier relationships and support the successful commercial delivery of multiple high-end residential projects. Key Responsibilities * Taking ownership of procurement and purchasing activities across multiple live construction projects. * Sourcing construction materials, specialist products and bespoke finishes to meet project specifications and private client requirements. * Building on existing supplier relationships and developing a strong network of reliable suppliers, subcontractors and specialist trades. * Obtaining and evaluating quotations, negotiating prices and securing competitive terms without compromising on quality. * Supporting the commercial management of projects, including cost monitoring, budget tracking and identifying potential savings. * Managing subcontractor procurement, tender enquiries and the comparison of quotations. * Monitoring material lead times, purchase orders and deliveries to ensure project programmes are maintained. * Working closely with site teams and directors to understand project requirements and anticipate procurement needs. * Reviewing supplier performance, identifying opportunities to improve value and establishing effective purchasing processes. * Providing commercial and procurement updates to the directors, highlighting potential risks and opportunities. * Helping develop and refine the company's procurement and commercial procedures as the business continues to grow. The Ideal Candidate * Proven experience in a Commercial, Procurement, Buying or Quantity Surveying role within construction. * Experience working for a main contractor, ideally within high-end residential new-build or refurbishment projects. * Strong knowledge of construction materials, suppliers, subcontractors and purchasing processes. * An established network of supplier and subcontractor contacts would be highly advantageous. * Experience obtaining quotations, negotiating prices and managing procurement from initial enquiry through to delivery. * Commercially astute, with a strong understanding of cost control, value engineering and maintaining quality standards. * Highly organised, proactive and capable of managing multiple projects and competing priorities. * Confident communicating with company directors, clients, suppliers and site teams. * Comfortable working independently, using initiative and taking ownership of responsibilities from day one. What's on Offer? * The opportunity to join a respected, family-run main contractor with an established presence in the Oxfordshire market. * Involvement in prestigious, high-end residential new-build and refurbishment projects. * Direct working relationships with company directors and the opportunity to influence commercial decisions. * A hands-on, autonomous position with genuine responsibility and ownership. * The opportunity to strengthen and develop the company's procurement and commercial function. * A growing business offering long-term stability and the opportunity to make a lasting contribution. If you are an experienced construction professional with a strong procurement background, established industry relationships and the commercial ability to manage purchasing and project costs independently, we would love to hear from you.
