Our client, a Construction Consultancy, is looking for a Clerk of Works to join them in the Hampshire area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fire Safety Compliance: Review to ensure all construction activities comply with relevant fire safety regulations, codes, and standards. Review and comment upon fire safety plans, designs, and materials. Perform site inspections to monitor fire safety practices and identify any potential risks. Verify that fire safety installations (e.g., fire doors, fire stopping, sprinkler systems, masonry work and drylining) are correctly installed and functioning. Report any non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and corrective actions. Prepare detailed reports on compliance and present findings. Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible.
  • Training and Awareness: Promote a culture of quality awareness on the construction site. Provide guidance and support to the construction team on best practices.

Key Skills & Qualifications (ideal):

  • Diploma or degree in Fire Safety, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in passive fire safety or construction safety (e.g., NEBOSH, FPA, IFE, Site Manager) are highly desirable.
  • Professional memberships ICWCI, MCIOB, RICS, IFE.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ construction experience.
  • Proven experience with façade remediation projects and higher risk buildings.
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., NFPA, BS 9999, BS 9991).
  • Fire door inspections.
