About City Science
City Science is a data-led consultancy helping cities, governments and organisations make better decisions using spatial data, modelling and digital tools. Our flagship GIS product, Cadence, sits at the heart of this mission—turning complex data into powerful insights that shape the future of places.
This is a brand-new role, created to fundamentally level how we communicate, grow our audience, and build a product-led growth engine around Cadence.
The Role
We’re looking for an exceptionally smart, highly articulate marketer —someone with serious intellectual horsepower—who wants to apply rigorous, analytical thinking to marketing and audience growth. This role is about driving measurable growth, not just "doing content." Your focus will be:
- Audience growth
- Movement through the sales funnel
- Product-led growth for Cadence
You will approach marketing like an engineer or scientist: form hypotheses → test → analyse → refine → scale.
If you have an academically rigorous background, impeccable written communication, and are excited by the challenge of turning complex GIS and data concepts into compelling, high-impact narratives—this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
Cadence (Primary Focus)
- Build and execute a clear, data-driven marketing and brand strategy for Cadence
- Design and run growth experiments to increase awareness, engagement, and funnel conversion
- Create compelling, precise content that explains complex GIS and data concepts clearly, accurately and elegantly
- Own Cadence's social presence (especially LinkedIn and YouTube) with a focus on audience growth
- Develop thought leadership content: posts, blogs, videos, demos, explainers and case studies
- Work closely with product, consultancy and leadership teams to deeply understand:
- The product
- Client problems
- Value propositions
City Science Brand (Secondary Focus)
- Manage and evolve City Science's LinkedIn presence
- Own website content, including landing pages, messaging and updates
- Support employer branding through thoughtful, high-quality careers content
- Ensure exceptional consistency of voice, tone and written quality across all channels
What We’re Looking For
- Exceptionally strong in written communication, with impeccable grammar and clarity of expression
- Highly analytical, structured and comfortable thinking in systems
- Able to explain complex ideas simply
- Comfortable working autonomously and taking ownership
- Naturally curious, rigorous and evidence-led in how you work
- A strong academic background (e.g. a high-quality degree in a rigorous discipline such as science, engineering, mathematics, geography, economics, computer science, or similar)
- The mindset of someone who enjoys learning difficult things and mastering complexity
- A genuine interest in data, technology, GIS and how products grow
Ideally, you also have:
- Exposure to GIS, analytics, urban systems, infrastructure or public-sector clients (formal or self-taught)
- Experience (or strong interest) in B2B, SaaS, data products or technical consulting
- Familiarity with growth marketing, funnels and product led-growth concepts
Please note: This role is not suited to purely "creative" or influencer-style marketers without an analytical or academic foundation.
How to Apply
- Upload a clear and up to date CV.
- Answer all screening questions, including:
- What motivated you to apply for the role
- Your academic achievements
- Links to/examples of relevant content, campaigns or work
- Your interest in data, technology and GIS
Rewards & Benefits
- A rare opportunity to shape both brand and growth from the ground up
- Direct impact on a mission-driven, technically sophisticated GIS product
- High trust, autonomy and space to experiment rigorously
- Fully remote (UK-based) role
- Flexible working arrangements
- 25 days annual leave entitlement (plus annual leave buy/sell)
- Membership of our pension scheme
- Eye care vouchers
- Employee assistance program
