Our range of clients is extensive, having worked for major national bodies such as DESNZ, the Climate Change Committee (CCC), and a range of forward‑thinking local authorities such as Oxfordshire County Council. We work closely with our award‑winning research, software and product development team who produce innovative and uniquely insightful digital tools, like our GIS software, Cadence, to successfully deliver our projects.
OUR ENERGY WORK
- District Heat Networks (we are a supplier on the Heat Network Zoning DESNZ framework)
- Local Area Energy Plans (LAEP) & Local Heat & Energy Efficiency Strategies (LHEES)
- Renewable & Low Carbon Energy Assessments
- Alternative Fuel Strategies (e.g. Hydrogen, SAF) and Industrial Decarbonisation

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Consultant level (2+ years prof experience or PhD) candidate who can deliver our broad range of energy consulting commissions, with a particular interest in candidates with a technical background (e.g. physical science or engineering) or those with an economics/finance background but with experience in applying this to energy and low‑carbon sectors. Whilst the preference is for candidates with professional experience, those coming straight from a (relevant) PhD will be considered.
You will contribute to the delivery of projects via research, report writing, analysis, and the production of models. Whilst a key requirement of this role is technical proficiency, we also have an expectation that you will contribute to common consultancy non‑technical tasks such as bid writing, stakeholder engagement and qualitative research – we are a small consultancy, so we all wear many hats. We also require support on the continued growth of our business, through delivering upon our team’s wider commercial targets, such as through identifying future opportunities.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Research, modelling, and analysis across a range of energy and net zero projects
- Data analysis (in Excel predominantly)
- Producing high quality reports and presentations for clients
- Supporting the growth of our energy and net zero client offering and portfolio of projects, both supporting and leading the delivery of tenders as appropriate
Essential Requirements:
- Relevant work experience (2+ years or PhD)
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding across energy systems
- Excel skills and data visualisation
- Good writing capability, and the ability to produce high‑quality client reports
- Professional, consultative and collaborative approach at all times
- Ability to communicate technical outputs to a range of stakeholders, technical and non‑technical
- Degree in a technical or scientific field, or economics/finance, e.g. engineering, physics, economics
Desirable Requirements:
- Experience with Industrial Decarbonisation
- Experience with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), or Energy from Waste
- Experience with District Heat Networks
- Experience with Local Heat & Energy Efficiency Strategies (LHEES)
- Experience with Local Area Energy Planning (LAEP)
- Coding (e.g. python) and GIS
- Masters or PhD
