Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm. Occasional site work and overtime depending on project requirements.
The Role
We are looking for a skilled Painter / Prepper with an exceptional eye for detail and a passion for high-quality finishes. This role sits at the heart of our finishing process, supporting the delivery of premium, design-led surfaces for architectural, interior, and bespoke projects. You will be responsible for preparing substrates and applying paint and specialist coatings to an extremely high visual standard, both in the workshop and occasionally on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Surface Preparation
- Prepare walls, panels, furniture, and components through sanding, filling, levelling, masking, and priming.
- Assess substrates and select appropriate preparation methods and materials.
- Repair surface imperfections to achieve smooth, flawless finishes.
- Maintain strict cleanliness and dust control during preparation.
- Paint & Coating Application
- Apply paints and specialist finishes using spray, roller, and hand techniques.
- Accurately mix and prepare coatings to specification.
- Apply multi-layer systems including primers, base coats, and top coats.
- Maintain consistency of colour, texture, and finish across samples and final works.
- Finishing & Quality Control
- Inspect completed work and carry out snagging or refinishing where required.
- Flat, polish, and refine finishes to achieve the desired aesthetic.
- Work to visual mock-ups, samples, and client-approved standards.
- Take ownership of finish quality before work leaves the workshop or site.
- Workshop & Site Support
- Support installation and finishing work on site when required.
- Handle, protect, and pack finished items correctly.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in good working order.
- Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
- Keep workspaces clean, organised, and presentation-ready.
Skills & Experience
- Essential:
- Experience as a painter, prepper, finisher, or decorative applicator.
- Strong understanding of surface preparation techniques.
- High attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Ability to follow specifications, samples, and visual references.
- Good manual skills and practical problem-solving ability.
- Desirable:
- Experience with decorative, specialist, or architectural finishes.
- Experience working on high-end residential or commercial projects.
- Ability to work across varied substrates (plaster, MDF, metal, concrete, etc.).
- Workshop and/or site-based experience.
- CSCS card.
