The Role: Are you a seasoned People professional ready to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, operational environment? City Plumbing is looking for a Senior People Partner to join our dynamic People team, working directly with our top-tier leadership to drive performance and engagement across our CPS/PTS branches and Supply Chain. This isn’t just an HR role; it’s a strategic partnership where you’ll be instrumental in shaping our culture, developing our leaders, and empowering our colleagues to achieve their best. Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Partnership: Developing a strong, challenging, and coaching relationship with our Operations Director and Chief Supply Chain Officer. You’ll help them achieve their goals, accelerate team performance, and enhance their leadership capabilities.
  • Team Leadership: Leading and developing a team of two Regional People Partners, empowering them to drive engagement and performance deeper into our branch operations.
  • Performance & Engagement: Driving robust performance management and engagement initiatives across the business units.
  • Leadership Development: Championing the development of our operations leaders and their teams, fostering a culture of continuous growth.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Utilising HRMI to proactively identify opportunities and mitigate risks, moving beyond just reviewing data to truly previewing future trends.
  • Risk Management: Collaborating with Regional People Partners to manage ER risks effectively, including overseeing the company’s whistleblowing reports.
  • Change Management: Leading the delivery of critical people workstreams for business change projects within branch operations.
  • Organisational Development: Contributing to organisational design efforts in response to business changes and opportunities.
  • Impactful Metrics: Enabling functions to hit their key financial, safety, and people metrics through outstanding people partnering.

This role is based in Crick, Northamptonshire. Whilst the role is offered on a hybrid basis there may be need to travel to support your stakeholders.

You: You’ll be an outcome-focused, curious, and energetic individual who thrives on collaborative teamwork within a wider HR context. You will enjoy working collaboratively with the wider HR team and you’ll thrive on providing excellent people advice.

Skills and competencies

  • Proven Experience: Significant HR Business Partner-level experience, including leading complex people projects, excelling in operational environments, and adeptly managing challenging employee relations cases. You’ll be skilled in data analysis for business insights and project management.
  • Key Skills: Exceptional coaching and facilitation abilities, confident in challenging senior stakeholders, with strong planning, prioritisation, and insightful presentation skills. You’ll also be proficient in project management tools and organisational design.
  • Comprehensive Knowledge: A deep understanding of current HR trends, key business metrics, and up-to-date UK employment law. Knowledge of acquisitions or the merchanting/construction industries is an advantage.
  • Qualifications: A degree (or equivalent) is essential, alongside CIPD qualification.
