Assistant Category Manager – City Plumbing
As an Assistant Category Manager, you will drive and ambition to work within a dynamic, commercial function. You will own the relationship with suppliers and be the first point of contact for our expansive branch network, supporting Category team for Controls and Tools to ensure the right range of products is available at the right gross margin profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and deliver a market‑leading category strategy, including proposition, pricing and promotional plan, range, pricing and role within the portfolio.
 - Review and report weekly on trading performance, identify opportunities or concerns and take timely action.
 - Network and maintain healthy contact with supplier base and internal stakeholders to deliver category requirements.
 - Ensure optimum route to market for each channel and meet stock health objectives with supply chain.
 - Manage selling price to agreed category price guidance and maintain data on competitor matches.
 - Develop promotional plans within Trading Plan to improve sales campaigns and maintain margin expectations.
 - Drive digital participation of the category and pursue digital‑first opportunities.
 - Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers to hit targets and maintain accurate Dealtrack reports.
 
Be available to step up and attend meetings on behalf of the Senior Category Manager or Head of Category when required as part of your development plan.
This is a hybrid‑based opportunity with true flexibility to work from home; you should be within commutable distance of our office in Crick, Northamptonshire.
