Are you a strategic Contract Manager with a passion for energy sustainability and a sharp eye for operational excellence? We are seeking a dedicated Energy Contracts Manager to take the lead on our property portfolio’s most critical external partnerships. As our lead Energy Contracts Manager, you won’t just manage a portfolio; you will drive our energy strategy, championing energy cost-effectiveness and statutory compliance while transitioning our operations toward a more sustainable energy future.
Reporting to the Head of Construction, the Energy Contracts Manager will have the autonomy to shape how we procure energy and manage our facilities contracts on a national scale. This Contract Manager position is vital for ensuring our energy consumption is optimised for cost effectiveness and our FM service providers are held to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the organisation's energy strategy, focusing on reducing energy consumption and improving energy efficiency.
- Manage the transition to sustainable energy sources to meet environmental targets.
- Oversee energy monitoring, targeting, and reporting systems to identify energy savings opportunities.
- Act as the primary Contract Manager for mandatory energy compliance schemes, such as ESOS and SECR.
- Identify and secure grants or subsidies for energy efficiency projects as the Energy Contract Manager.
- Lead energy infrastructure capital projects, including LED lighting, solar installations, and BMS optimisation.
- Manage energy budgets, providing detailed energy forecasting and expenditure tracking.
- Perform energy invoice validation to ensure accuracy and strict contractual adherence.
- Ensure the organisation meets all energy-related legislation, health and safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Maintain comprehensive records for energy contracts, energy data, and compliance certificates.
This is primarily a remote-based role with visits to our office for team meetings. You should be based in the UK within easy reach of our Head Office in Crick, Northamptonshire. You’ll live and breathe our customer-first ethos, with a strategic and proactive approach to Category, Buying, and Trading. You’ll enjoy working collaboratively with the wider Multichannel team and you’ll be committed to acting with integrity and honesty in everything you do.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in Energy Procurement, ideally within a multi-site environment.
- Demonstrable track record of delivering significant cost savings and efficiency improvements in energy consumption.
- Strong knowledge of FM service contract structures, SLAs, and performance metrics.
- Excellent understanding of UK energy markets, utility billing, and relevant environmental legislation (e.g., ESOS and F-Gas).
- A relevant degree or professional qualification in Facilities Management or a related field (e.g., IWFM Level 4/5, CIBSE, or similar).
- Although not essential, an Accreditation or membership with a recognised professional body (e.g., CIBSE, IWFM, Energy Institute) would be beneficial.
- It would be beneficial to have experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and energy monitoring software.
- Proven ability to manage capital expenditure projects from inception to completion.
