We are looking for caring, compassionate and hands-on people to join our team at 77 Flaxman Ave, Short Break Service for adults with a Learning/Physical Disability and/or Autism. Flaxman Avenue is a six-bedded homely environment where customers can come for a short stay tailored to meet their needs. Our aim is to promote and work towards developing independence skills so that users have as much control over their own lives as possible.

  • Cooking and cleaning

Role Overview

The role of Support Worker is invaluable: it is rewarding, complex and challenging. You will play an essential role in providing support and direct care to adults with Learning Disability and/or Autism, who may display behaviours that challenge.

Qualifications and Skills

You will need good organisational skills and be able to work as part of a team while using your own initiative. Compassion, integrity, and the ability to treat people with dignity and respect are of great importance. Care experience—whether caring for a family member or professionally—is desirable but not essential; a Care Certificate training will be available, and opportunities to work towards a Level 2/3 qualification in care exist if you do not already have one. You will be supported by a line manager, receive a thorough induction, and have opportunities for supervision, training and development reviews to support you in the work you do.

Working Hours

37 hours per week. Shift work is as follows:

  • Weekdays – 7 am – 10 am, 3 pm – 9 pm
  • Weekends – 7 am – 3 pm and 3 pm – 9 pm

3-week rolling rota, one full weekend off in 3; flexibility is required to meet service needs.

Other Requirements

The role is public-facing; applicants must demonstrate competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public in spoken English at CEFR level C2. Applicants are required to undertake an enhanced Criminal Record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
