The City of York Specialist Teaching Team is seeking enthusiastic and experienced teachers to join our Autism and Neurodiversity Team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of York's ambitious SEND transformation programme, supporting the implementation of national SEND reforms and our developing Experts at Hand model of inclusion.
In this rewarding role, you will work collaboratively with children and young people, families, schools, colleges and partner agencies to promote inclusion and enable learners to achieve their full academic, social and emotional potential. Through the Experts at Hand approach, you will help build capacity within education settings by providing specialist advice, assessment, coaching, consultation and professional development, ensuring that children and young people can access high-quality support within their local community wherever possible.
Working as part of a highly regarded multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist support across a range of educational settings, contribute to service development and help shape innovative approaches to inclusion across the city. You will be playing a key role in supporting schools and settings to develop inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming practice, reduce barriers to attendance and participation, and deliver the aspirations of the SEND reforms through earlier intervention, stronger partnership working and improved outcomes for children, young people and their families.
We are looking for a qualified teacher with experience of working in both mainstream and specialist settings with children and young people with autism and/or other neurodevelopmental differences, excellent communication skills and a commitment to inclusive practice.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected, collaborative and innovative team that makes a real difference to the lives of children, young people and families across York. If you are committed to championing inclusion and empowering children and young people to thrive, we would love to hear from you.
Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
City of York Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment. We require the successful candidate to undertake an enhanced Criminal Record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
