We are pleased to invite applications for a Social Worker to join our team in supporting children and young people in our care. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for those committed to working with children and young people to help fulfil our role as a corporate parent and achieve the best possible outcomes.
We have a clear career pathway for social workers in York – from newly qualified to experienced practitioners. Qualified candidates may be considered for direct recruitment as a Senior Social Worker at a higher grade.
Role Highlights- Work with looked‑after children, implementing care plans to support them through to adulthood or return to families when positive change has been achieved.
- Support children and young people subject to Care Orders, under Section 20 of the Children Act, and those living with parents under Placement with Parent regulations.
- Participate in the development of the Family Seeing and Signs of Belonging practice, which complements the well‑established Signs of Safety model.
- Be part of the leadership group for the Building Brighter Futures practice model.
- Manage a manageable caseload to build strong relationships with children, young people and colleagues.
- Work independently, ensuring timescales are met and conflicting priorities are managed effectively.
- Attend regular one‑to‑one and peer/group supervision sessions.
- Provide advisory and guidance to members of the public, demonstrating competency in spoken English at CEFR level C1.
- Eligibility for a Criminal Record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
- Motivation and commitment to meeting timescales and delivering a high‑quality service.
- Experience with ASYE (if applicable) will be advantageous.
