Overview

It’s an exciting time to be a social worker in the Learning Disability, Preparing for Adulthood and Autism Team!

York Adult Learning Disability, Autism and Preparing for Adulthood Team support adults, families and informal carers who live in the city to live as an enjoyable and independent life as possible.

We work in a strength-based way to listen to and empower individuals, identify their outcomes and explore ways of using their own strengths, informal networks and sometimes statutory services to help them achieve their goals.

We work with a wide variety of people with varying support needs so every day is different. We are looking for someone who is positive, proactive and creative to make a difference in the lives of people with learning disabilities and autism.

This will include working with professionals from health, education and other professional networks and considering a range of options to help meet their care act eligible needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support adults, families and informal carers within the City of York to pursue an enjoyable and independent life.
  • Engage in strength-based practice to listen, empower and help individuals identify outcomes.
  • Collaborate with professionals from health, education and other networks to explore options and meet care act eligible needs.
  • Work with a diverse range of people with varying support needs, adapting to different daily requirements.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Degree in Social Work and be registered, or planning to register, with Social Work England (SWE) to apply.
  • Demonstrate competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public in spoken English to CEFR level C1 (fluency and spontaneity).

  • We are not currently licensed to sponsor employees for visas; we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
  • Hybrid working arrangements are available; working arrangements will be determined in collaboration with you based on role requirements.
  • Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
