Role Overview

A wonderful opportunity has arisen to add to our existing team supporting young people to live semi-independently in York through our supported accommodation offer / Staying Close.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support young people across residential and supported accommodation provision, predominantly unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
  • Help young people develop a sense of belonging, develop local networks of support.
  • Provide support and guidance in developing lifelong independent living skills.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Commitment to child-centred care, effective communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with children and young people and their families.
  • Solution focused.
  • Able to use office-based IT and data systems.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Commitment to challenge unacceptable, discriminatory practice constructively.
  • Able to work out of school hours – for example occasional weekends, evenings, including school holidays.
  • Experience of working with children is desirable not essential.
