This vacancy is available as a secondment opportunity. Candidates must seek permission of their current line manager before applying for a secondment opportunity.

Public Health wish to recruit a Health Improvement Officer to support their exciting Joint Strategic Needs Assessment portfolio, working as one of several Health Improvement Officers within the Public Health Directorate. This is a fixed term secondment for 1 year and you should seek your manager's approval before applying.

We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate individual, with experience of public health working in the local authority to help meet both local and national priorities. The successful candidate will be required to support senior officers to identify needs, appraise evidence to inform practice, and work on initiatives to reduce risks to residents' health.

You should be able to build good partnership working relationships, have project management experience, and be skilled at producing quality documentation, including reports and presentations, in addition to possessing excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.

The successful applicant will be well supported to perform this role, with opportunity given to gain experience across other areas of public health work within the department as part of career development where this fits with departmental objectives and areas of work performed by other Health Improvement Officers. This post is suitable as a job share opportunity.
