The Peer Support Worker sits within the peer support service, which is part of the wider adult services at York Mind. The service works within the York Community Wellbeing Hubs, part of the Transforming Our City project that partners with the local authority, NHS and other voluntary sector organisations.
As a Peer Support Worker, you would deliver one‑to‑one peer support to people who access the service within community mental health hubs and across the community. Support may cover a range of issues, from improving health and wellbeing, to accessing community activities, tackling loneliness or simply providing a listening ear. Flexibility will be key. You will draw on your own mental health experience to support others while maintaining professional boundaries. It is important to understand that you will work with people who may have serious mental illness.
Aims of the post:
- Work within the York Community Wellbeing Hub and be part of the multidisciplinary team across the city.
- Act as a Peer Support Worker, managing a caseload of clients referred to the service.
- Proactively support the day‑to‑day coordination of peer support and wider Hub services, following processes and procedures.
- Maintain accurate case notes and play an active role in gathering feedback and data to support reporting requirements.
Permanent subject to funding. 1 Full‑time role – 35 hours, 1 Part‑time role – 17.5 hours (both include some evening and weekend working).
